Conference of The Third International Year of the Reef

The Ambassador and H.E. Mr Fautrier attended the Third International Year of the Reef (IYOR) Conference along with Mr Cuvelier of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Mr Allemand of the Scientific Centre of Monaco. The conference was hosted by the International Sustainability Unit which is part of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales’ Charities. The Third International Year of the Reef is a campaign of events and initiatives hosted by governments and non-governmental organizations around the world, to promote conservation action and strengthen long-term collaborations for coral reef conservation.

It aims to strengthen awareness globally about the value of, and threats to, coral reefs and associated ecosystems and promotes partnerships between governments and the private sector on the management of coral reefs. Its goals are to identify and implement effective management strategies for conservation, and sustainable use of these ecosystems and promoting best practices.

The event included a panel discussion with the participation of leading figures on environmental issues. Several presentations were made including a speech made by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales who publicly thanked H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and His Foundation for his commitment. H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and H.R.H. the Prince of Wales having pledged last October at the ‘Our Ocean’ Conference to encourage blue economy by developing sustainable ocean management; H.E. Mrs Genta and H.E. Mr Fautrier were able to exchange with H.R.H; the Prince of Wales on the protection of the Oceans and its inhabitants.
