The Embassy of the Principality of Monaco attended the ‘Grandad Mandela’ Book Launch hosted by the South African High Commissioner H.E. Ms Nomathemba Tambo in honour of the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. Mandela’s daughter and great-grandchildren discussed their children’s picture book on his life, ‘Grandad Mandela’. H.E. Ms Zindzi Mandela, South Africa's Ambassador to Denmark, is the daughter of the late Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and the late Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela. The co-authors of the book, Zazi and Ziwelene, are her grandchildren and Nelson and Winnie's great-grandchildren. Their touching book takes the form of a dialogue between Zazi and Ziwelene and their Grandma Zindzi. It’s an earnest discussion during which we, and the children, learn of South Africa’s recent history, about what it was like to be a child of apartheid and about the role Nelson Mandela played in ending the apartheid regime. The book also explores Mandela’s achievements and what his life has meant and continues to mean for future generations.
