The Embassy of the Principality of Monaco attended the Women’s networking event on Sustainable Finance hosted by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) on Thursday 1st November.  This event assembled a number of senior influential women in the international capital market industry who provide thought leadership and are at the centre of innovation.

The International Capital Market Association or ICMA is a self-regulatory organisation and trade association for participants in the capital markets with an aim to promote high standards of market practice and appropriate regulation. Green bonds, social bonds, sustainable bonds and other innovative financing solutions have in recent years been catapulted into the mainstream of debt capital markets funding. Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) credentials and sustainability are now featured in many investment mandates, often linked to gender diversity. This aspect was highlighted in the keynote speech given by Margaret Kuhlow, Finance Practice Head at The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in which Ms Kuhlow spoke about the impact of climate change, the role of sustainable finance and where she addressed the sustainable finance’s standards as well as controversy. She also stated that she foresees the growth of the market to occur in a way that focuses on transparency and impact. The event’s panel discussion was titled ‘Sustainability - the perspective of influential women in the rapidly growing Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) market’. The panellists participating in the debate were all experts in the sustainable finance field.

The evening was concluded with a networking session attended by all the event’s participants.
