Implementation of the European Entry/Exit System (EES)

The Embassy of Monaco to the United Kingdom wishes to inform that, from 12 October 2025, the Schengen Area will progressively introduce the new Entry/Exit System (EES) to record the entry and exit of third-country nationals at its external borders.
The system will be fully operational across all border posts by 10 April 2026.
The EES will replace the manual stamping of passports with a digital registration recording travellers’ identity, date and place of entry or exit, and biometric data (fingerprints and facial image). This system aims to enhance border security, improve the management of migratory flows, and facilitate travel for short stays of less than three months.
Monegasque nationals and residents will not be subject to EES registration requirements, in accordance with the Schengen Borders Code and the EU Regulation establishing the EES. The introduction of this system will therefore not affect holders of valid Monegasque residence permits.
Travellers are advised that longer waiting times may occur during the initial phase of implementation.
