World Alzheimer Dinner

The World Alzheimer's Ball Charity Dinner hosted by H.E. Mrs Evelyne Genta at the Embassy of the Principality of Monaco.

H.E. Mrs Evelyne Genta hosted a dinner at the Embassy on the occasion of the World Alzheimer’s Ball in order to raise awareness about cognitive disorders, in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society.

This institution is a United Kingdom care and research charity that supports people with dementia and their carers. It operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland with sister charities in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland. Dementia is a global problem. Worldwide, 50 million people have dementia, and in the UK alone, 850,000 people currently live with its devastating effects. The Alzheimer’s Society has been at the forefront of this fight for the past 40 years.

The second World Alzheimer’s Ball took place on Wednesday 13 June 2018 at Lancaster House. The goal of the event was to send a powerful message about countries from around the world coming together to champion the dementia agenda and deliver meaningful change. Several London Embassies had joined forces that evening to welcome generous donators, supporters and members of the Alzheimer’s Society.

H.E. Mrs Genta gave a speech to the people gathered at the Embassy to highlight the dedication of the Principality of Monaco towards patients suffering from dementia. The Monegasque care branch for cognitive disorders offers indeed a comprehensive approach to Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions, including diagnosis strategies, drug and non-drug treatments, prevention, as well as assistance to the families of patients. This specific care plan has allowed cutting down the waiting time for a space in a care facility by 7 years.

The event raised a total of £200,000 to support people affected by dementia through the Alzheimer's Society services and research programmes.
