H.S.H Prince Albert II’s conference on Climate change in the Arctic

On 7th March 2023, H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco took part in a conference in London on “Climate change in the Arctic” organized by Investec and UArtic and attended by almost 100 people. Investec is an Anglo-South African international banking and wealth management group who is recognized as one of the top 100 most sustainable corporations. UArtic is an international cooperative network based in the Circumpolar Arctic region, consisting of universities, colleges, and other organizations with an interest in promoting education and research in the Arctic region.

H.S.H. Prince Albert gave a short speech on the importance of ensuring that Arctic-related issues continue to feature on international agendas despite the current war in Ukraine which had the unfortunate effect of hampering international cooperation in the Artic region.

Following the speech, Monaco’s Head of State took part in a panel discussion composed of Sir Frederik Paulsen, Chair of UArctic Board, Lars Kullerud, President of UArctic, Aaja Chemnitz Larsen, Greenlandic politician and Chair of Arctic Parliamentarians and Max Richardson, Senior Director at Investec. The panel discussed in length about the urgency of the situation in the Artic which is amongst the most endangered regions on the Planet. They have also presented possible ways in which to tackle climate change and protect this region.
